Updated: Jun 6, 2021
Hi Folks!
I have listed down some interesting things for you all which personally I have loved doing in my trip to Pondicherry and so I thought of sharing some with you all. you too can try out the below listed things while you are in Pondicherry - "the lil France of India"
1. Explore with a hired Scooty
Unlike other places Pondicherry can be best explored if you have a hired scooty. Usually they charge for a day and the payable amount is quite affordable. now you must be wondering that how can hiring a scooty be interesting? but let me tell you the roads which cut through the soothing nature around can be felt the best by this mode of transport. trust me you will have the best scooty ride ever! So get yourself one and start exploring!
2. Listen to the mesmerizing jingling of the giant wind chime at Auroville
Super peaceful place and pretty much a meditation hub. But the best part for me was the jingling sound of the gigantic wind chime hung on a tree branch on the walk way to Matrimandir. Probably the biggest wind chime I ever saw!
3. A rocky walk in the Serenity Beach
Uniqueness about this beach was walking up to the end of the elevated patch of the rocky boulders which extended up to few meters above the sea. Surrounded by sea from all the three sides, this place would definitely give you a titanic vibe if you stand at the end point of it, unfold your arms and look up to the sea.
4. Observe the blistering night scape at the Rock Beach
Once you had a wholesome day then you should take this break! You apparently need to do nothing but perch yourself upon a rock at the beach, sit quietly and listen to the sound of the crashing waves. Count the stars dropping into the sea occasionally interrupted by the dimming light of few sailing ships. Then definitely you have some artificial stars to brighten up your mood more.
5. Some ice-cream scoops from the GMT ice-cream parlor
Try out some really unique, yummy and varieties of ice-cream flavors at the GMT ice-cream parlor and walk around the Promenade Beach. Enjoy the combination and remember me ;)
6. A must Instagram DP click at the café Des Art
Well the main attraction of the Pondicherry trip is definitely this! People actually stand in a queue to get clicked here. The perfect painted yellow background sketched with white animations and bright pink bougainvillea roofing occasionally can never fail to yield the best trip DP for you.
7. A jetty ride through the back waters to the Paradise island
This Island justifies its name. The way you get to reach here is the best part! Your jetty gushing through the back water, offering a picturesque view of the nature around gives quite an adventurous feeling. If you are a water sports lover then this place is for you. You can munch on some sea food at the shacks out there. Do not forget to enjoy the sunset!
8. Strolling around the French Colonies
This pretty place is also called the mini France of India as Pondicherry was the only headquarter of the French East India Company back in the 17th century. It is definitely a delight to most of the history lovers and Photographers to view the French architecture and their colonies which not only dates you back to history but also becomes another point of attraction for tourists.
9. Snap up some lantern lights & dream catchers
Disclaimer for girls! Most of you must have picked up the pretty stoles and shrugs being sold at the promenade? Then now head towards the streets near the Vinayagar Temple at white town to fetch some lights. The magical essence of these lights can be best visualized in the evening. These attractive lights are made of paper and thread. They can be the star home décor lights to cuddle up the favorite corner of your room.
10. Some baguettes and Croissants?
Briefly Pondicherry has been colonized by the French and their influence is still perceptible in most of the restaurants and cafes. In my short span I could only manage to visit some which I would love to pin down for you all 1. café des Art 2. Le café 3. Bread & Chocolate 4. Tanto
That’s all for this blog guys! Hope this post is of some help to you all. Do like and share and do not forget to leave your feedback below. Would come up soon! probably with "some go-to cafes in Pondicherry" . Till then adios and yes, thanks for reading.
PINS FOR LATER!
